No Bookshop

I’ve pulled out of the interest in the bookshop. It was naive of me to think that I’d be able to run a small business, from having no experience. I can’t raise enough capital either, and there’s no way I want to go back to paying off a loan for the rest of my life.

Don’t know where to turn now, apart from back into I.T – but that’s such a depressing thought. Darkness descends once more.

Hmm. I’m having some serious doubts about the bookshop. I get a funny feeling that something’s not right about the deal. That, and these other issues:

- bank
- lack of business skills
- lack of bookshop industry knowledge

I’ve been to see a bookshop that is coming up for sale – the owner wants to sell it by September at the latest.

It’s quite a small shop, but has a diverse range of books and a good turnover/profit. I’m out of my depth with running a business and it’s not the best time to be asking for money from the bank! But – I’m going to try and proceed, maybe by taking a part-time job in the shop, so that I can build up the necessary skills.

Well – I’ve made some initial queries into getting a job in a bookshop. I have no retail experience, so will probably have to be a coffee-boy or something like that.
