England Rugby…. finally

Finally a decent performance from England. If only they’d have played with the same level of interest against Wales and the (shocking) performance against Scotland – then it might be us at the top of the Six Nations table and not Wales.

I will be supporting Wales now. Come ON! Need them to win by more than three points, so that England come in second place.

I think Wilkinson has had his day, Cipriani is the new man on the block. Balshaw is not a full-back and Noon had a stonking game.

Post-edit – superb, well done Wales – one for Ray Gravelle! (also for the English defensive coach, and for the New Zealand manager).

Well, what a dreadful second-half performance from England. Wilkinson may as well retire now, as he let Wales back into the game. Balshaw was a weak link, as predicted by people before the game.

Wales did perform better eventually.

My team (Worcester) aren’t doing too well in the Premiership at the moment, though they have signed some really good players.

Wasps and Leicester Tigers haven’t been performing. Tigers need to give Goode a rest for a while, as he played like a Muppet today. Missing penalties and passing really badly. At least the prospects for the England rugby team look better now.

Watched the final of the Stella Artois tennis at the weekend. Was really touched when Roddick gave his racquet away to a guy in a wheelchair.

Finally got back at 1.20am after leaving Twickenham at 8pm. Nightmare of a trip – faults on the line, engineering works, heavy rain. Should have taken no more than two hours maximum.

Shame Fiji didn’t really turn up for the final, giving NZ a relatively easy game. Here’s the scoreline with a minute to go:

Bit ashamed of what I ate yesterday: duck spring rolls, Cornish pasty at the stadium and two slices of pizza waiting for the bus back in Oxford.

There were a group of horsey-girls on the train from Reading to Twickenham. Platform 4a at Reading is one-way-only – uses buffers. One of the girls said “which way will the train be going?”, makes you wonder sometimes. By horsey-girls – I mean ones with affluent parents, kids have to do nothing to get lots of money. You can imagine they all had Prada vibrators.

Time to venture out to Twickenham today, for the Rugby 7s. It looks like it might be similar weather to the Dubai one – rain!! England didn’t even make the final stages, losing to Wales 22:0 in the first stages I hope that Fiji and Samoa excite today.

Woot! It was worth buying my Worcester rugby top and shirt – they’ve managed to stay in the Premiership. Gives me a reason to wear one/more of them to the 7s next month at Twickenham, though hopefully it won’t be a similar event to me fracturing my elbow in Dubai, when I saw the 7s there.

Went to the dogs yesterday, to do some innocent betting on greyhounds, that will probably be shot and buried in some disused estate in a few years.

I can recommend that you don’t drink alcohol whilst taking anti-biotics; I knew I shouldn’t have done, but I feel rough/ruff now. Might have been the hot dog I ate there instead…
