England into semi-finals of World Cup! Cannot believe it. Tried to find it on the 50 channels of rubbish on TV this morning, but all you get is baseball, hockey, Dr Phil and What not to wear.
Drove out to Loon Lake today - very pretty, lots of B&B next to the lake. Passed a sign that said “Do not feed the bears”.

Made me laugh anyway. I’m probably well out of date, but saw it on a friend’s Facebook page.

Well - apparently food additives are not good for hyperactive children, according to the latest study. Jesus, this has been common knowledge for twenty years. Blue Smarties anybody? Maybe the additives and crap food that are fed to kids these days actually cause the hyperactivity? On the train back into Wales I saw a mother give her daughter - one sandwich (white bread, processed ham), kit kat, can of diet coke and a bag of crisps. I’ll book the dentist appointment now and wonder why your kids are hyperactive and disruptive.
Also excessive drinking by teenagers leads to binge-drinking in later life, according to a government study. REALLY? SURELY NOT?

A waffle entry, with no real structure or content (just to make a change).
Finally got my insurance sorted out. I’m now the owner of a new vacuum, new LCD TV, money, new 17″ TFT monitor and various other bits and bobs. I think I’ve done pretty well out of it, considering the age of some of the items.
I managed to start cutting my hair with a grade 0, instead of a grade 3 blade last night. I considered shaving the lot off, but didn’t have the guts. I’m off to buy a hat, to cover the mistakes up!
I knew I should have taken the chance, with travel agent, to let them book hotel for my South America trip that starts in Rio. The carnival is on and it’s been almost impossible to book a hotel for my arrival. Luckily found one near Copacabana Beach but it’s EXPENSIVE!

Went sailing yesterday and my face still feels wind swept and salty. Some pretty strong tides around Pembrokeshire! The boat we were in was built by a friend of mum&dad, pretty amazing that you can design, build and sail something of your own.

Parents’ ADSL was only running at 600k and was a tad frustrating to use, given that my laptop hasn’t had any Apple updates for ages. Did a bit of diagnosis and found one of the phones wasn’t using an ADSL filter…. hey presto - 2.9MB broadband.

I’ve been aware of their existence but never actually read any of the cartoons. Whilst in Bremen I read a couple of books of their cartoons - they are very funny and also philosophical.

Bus to the airport in Trondheim went through Hell again. Yes it is a real town name in Norway. The bus goes through a 4km tunnel - called the Hell Tunnel, I expected to see Cerberus but did not.
Hotel in Trondheim was a nightmare as it had a bar underneath that did not close until 4am every morning. Do not use the Thon hotel, if you do go there.

I’m feeling very detatched from everything that’s going on around me at the moment. Not having a home anymore and travelling day to day is quite strange.
Oslo - central Oslo is dreadful, pretty much. So many beggars, bums and alcoholics.
Stockholm -very busy, but if you wander into the old-town (Gamla Stan) it’s very nice.
Oh yes, I’m also wearing Björn Borg’s pants.

On reflection - I think the flooding of the flat has been a good thing. Maybe not from a financial point of view, but from the point of view of getting rid of 75% of the crap that I’ve been dragging along with me, each time I move from place to place. All of my possessions now take up less than half of a Ford Transit SWB van.
I think people place too high a value on the superficial things they collect. You have yourself and that’s about all you need, if you live by yourself. I will certainly be taking the line - that if I haven’t used something for a year - then it will either get binned, sold or given away.
The most precious thing that I got upset about losing was the first book my Grandpa bought for me - Lord of the Rings; I’ve had it for nearly 25 years. I also lost the pictures of my pre-adoptive family, but I haven’t had them that long, so paradoxically I’m not too emotional about them.
Have a good luck at those boxes of stuff that you carry around - imagine losing them to flooding and if it doesn’t worry you that much - chuck ‘em out!
