FINALLY! I’ve found a CD that I’ve been after for years. It’s by a Danish band called Sort Sol. There’s a track on there, from the film Night Watch (not the dreadful remake, the original Danish film). The film is superb, make sure you watch it ASAP.

Lost Tunes
July 31st, 2008 — music
A new website - Lost Tunes, for “rare music”. I think they’ve got a way to go yet, if Nick Drake’s album Bryter Layter is anything to go by. ITunes - 79p a track = £4.99 for album; Lost Tunes = 99p a track = £5.99 for album.
The tracks are DRM-free, which doesn’t really have that much bearing on me.
Oh Canada!
July 29th, 2008 — music, travel
Yeah baby, off to Canada again in September. There’s nothing much going on in the job-market at the moment, due to the school-holidays. Need to keep myself occupied for August - might go and do the 90 mile Hadrian’s Wall walk.
A friend needs to go to Canada to validate his visa (he is moving to Canada), so we’re making a road-trip of it.
Just downloaded the first track of the new album from Kings of Leon. It’s kind of more of the same really. The track is only available for a short time.
Musings
I think the next Muse album should be called ‘Um’. It will appeal to my word-play sense of fun.
I’m in Westport at the moment, which isn’t very exciting. Taking the TranzAlpine train from Greymouth to Christchurch today, which I’m looking forward to.

Their new album is free to download from XFM at 10am this morning.
Post-edit - the album is pretty good, seems quite short though.
Dave Matthews Band

Heard them whilst staying with my German friends. I’ve now purchased three of their albums from iTunes…. Great music!

Follow up, after watching a film on TV tonight - Get Over It:
“Faith pours from your walls, drowning your calls
I’ve tried to hear, you’re not near
Remembering when I saw your face
Shining my way, pure timing
Now I’ve fallen in deep, slow silent sleep
it’s killing me, I’m dying
To put a bit of sunshine in your life
Soliel all overyou, warm sun pours over me
Soliel all over you
Warm sun
Now this slick fallen rift came like a gift
your body moves ever nearer
And you will dry this tear
Now that we’re here, and greave for me, not history
But now I’m dry of thoughts, wait for the rain
Then its replaced, sun setting
And suddenly we’re in love with everything
Soliel all over you, warm sun pours over me
Soliel all over you
Warm sun”

Belleruche with DJ Vadim
July 7th, 2007 — music, pictures
Went to see a band that I’ve seen a couple of times last night - Belleruche. It was their new album launch-party at the Luminaire and they had a few special guests. DJ Vadim was there, if quite eclectic, he was mixing up some good tunes. It wasn’t until a few days ago that I realised that I’d be in London on 7/7, the day of the bombings….
I’m now the proud owner of their new album, which isn’t released until next week.

I wonder how long

It took to make this music video? Reminds me of a mixture of Peter Gabriel and a cartoon-like music video made a couple of years ago, by a Danish (?) band, I think.
ps. Junior Senior.

April 12th, 2007 — music, random
I feel a glimmer of hope approaching on the very distant horizon. Will not say any more about this, until things sort themselves out.
Currently listening to DJ Vadim and lovin’ it. Got a couple of tracks from Kathrin de Boer in it - who is the lead singer for Belleruche (see previous posts), she has such a great voice.
