Isle of Wight

Got back yesterday from a family holiday (+22) on the Isle of Wight. Blessed with really good weather, as my sunburnt feet will testify. Anyway, some pics on Flickr.

If you’re after somewhere to stay with a lot of people – then I can recommend Buntshill Barns.

My last night there gave me a strange dream about having a pet hippopotamus, that escaped into neighbour’s garden, squishing both of their dogs and rabbit.

Tower Dream

Had a dream last night about climbing to the top of a very tall tower. At the top were friends all sitting at the edges of a room, and the top of the tower kept leaning dramatically towards the ground, so I had to move to try and balance it. I eventually came down, and at the bottom my German friend’s mum had made breakfast, starting with yoghurt. Somebody with me complained about the yoghurt and I started arguing with them, for being rude. At this point I woke up.

Weird.

Disturbing Dream

Not many dreams stick out in my mind, or disturb me that much – but this one did.

Preliminary real life* – I lost a great friend a few years back (maybe 8?), to cancer.

Dream – I was working for a hitman. I was called into his office, to deal with somebody. The person was concealed in a cupboard, underneath cushions, duvets and loads of boxes. All the stuff was pulled out and a person could be seen underneath, they had a blue stocking over their head (like a bank robber) and was eventually pulled out of the cupboard. It was at this point that I realised who it was (see *real life), and I had to run out of the room, for fear of being recognised…… and then I woke up.

iTunes Genius

The new version of iTunes (8) is pretty good. I had some doubts about what Apple are going to be doing with all of my music library.

One feature is pretty cool – Genius. It’s a bit like Pandora (before they only allowed USA listeners) – it recommends tracks and makes new playlists. Here’s an example playlist (based on the contents of my music library) for John Lennon’s Imagine:

Not too bad matching up some tracks. Sadly I’ve had to remove the iLike plugin.

Fire and UFOs

I keep having a dream about being outside and watching the sky. The sky starts to turn really black, with thunder rumbling around. A gap appears in the clouds and then huge swathes of fire rip through the air, rushing towards me.

Another quite vivid dream last night – the sky went all sparkly, then a range of UFOs came slamming down into the earth, coming towards me – I manage to jump out of the way just in time.

Asleep or Awake

I woke up last night from a dream about somebody being in the house. When I awoke – I thought I was still in a hotel room, and there was my empty rucksack on the floor, with a computer case next to it. I thought I’d been robbed. It finally dawned on me that I was home and that there was nothing to worry about.

It’s very strange being in a different bedroom for nearly eleven months. You start to get disorientated about where everything is – especially where the bathroom (and its light) might be.
