Just a quick entry to say I’m really enjoying Japan. Osaka was a lot of fun, Hanami was beautiful! Didn’t get to the baseball as friend couldn’t get tickets.
Kyoto is less modern, once you leave the station, and lots of tourists. Both have their own merits. Temples and shrines in Kyoto are interesting – try going to some of the smaller ones, as you can find yourself alone, instead of with the hordes of tourists.

Maybe. I haven’t done any exploring yet, so have only got central Kyoto and the train station to compare it with. Off to see some temples today – maybe I’ll change my mind then!!
