Council Lighting

Councils around the UK are looking to either turn off street-lighting, or remove the lights all together – to save money and reduce their carbon-footprint.

My solution would be to have solar-powered street lights, like you can get for your garden. The lights would have solar panels on the top. Initial problems would be:

- the initial cost of putting in the lights
- getting enough energy stored, to power the lights at sufficient brightness
- keeping the panels clean.
