Kaywa Mobile Reader

Just been playing with Kaywa Reader on my mobile phone.

Try this image:

Kaywa

Companies put these images on their products, which you can then scan in with your mobile phone. Pretty funky, though it does seem like the technology has not taken off.

Kettle Jacket

Boilers (for heating systems) have jackets: why aren’t there jackets for kettles as well? This would help conserve energy, as the kettle wouldn’t cool down so much between boils.

Some Kind of Irony

Giving Poker a Rest

Giving poker a rest for a while, as haven’t had much luck. This, however, was my last hand today:

poker

Sigh.

Indy

The new Indiana Jones film is looking good, can’t wait for it to come out.

Trailer here. As long as it’s better than the Temple of Doom, I’ll be happy; if it’s better than Raiders, then I might just pass-out.

The End of Mr. Y

Just finished The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas. Not the most cohesive of reads, but reasonably easy to read. Dips in and out of existentialism, in an understandable form, unlike trying to read Being and Nothingness by Sartre - which requires a dictionary and headache tablets.

In the Mirror

Would you be able to live without a mirror for more than a week?

A university lecturer once told us that men look at themselves in the mirror more than women do - this was according to some survey. I wanted to say that the survey must have been skewed in some manner, as women are forever looking at a mirror, doing their lippy or whatever. Men hardly look at all.

Who looks in the mirror more?

Would you cease to exist, if you never saw yourself again?

My Life in Film

Based on a rough calculation I have lived 1103760000 seconds. To make this into a film would require

1103760000 * 24 (frames per second) = 26490240000 frames.

If it was a cartoon instead

1103760000 * 15 (frames per second) = 16556400000 frames.

Let’s say it’s a pretty basic cartoon and that it would take five minutes to draw a frame.

16556400000 * 5 = 82782000000 minutes = 1379700000 hours = 57487500 days = 157500 years.

That’s one old cartoonist.

Clock - Finished

Well, I went from this concept picture:

Idea for clock

To this finalised product:

Clock finished

Might even get it to its rightful owners, when they return from their honeymoon!

Useless information

I’ve discovered that if you run out of white spirits (for painting), then vaseline will also work - I guess as it is also petroleum -based.
