Inside leg

I’m glad to report that tailors no longer measure the inside leg the Traditional Way. I had to go and get measured for my friend’s wedding in March.

In other matters - I’m amazed at how many people write “I hope your ok”. They hope my “what” is ok? Do they mean “I hope you’re (you are) ok”? Same goes for “its” and “it’s (it is)”. “What is its name?” and “I hope it’s ok” are good.

Could only be my family

That could turn a three mile walk into an endurance challenge, that wasn’t helped by the weather turning nasty. It does make you feel alive - to be out in the wind, rain, cold and the light going.

Drug conspiracy

Having just spent £65 on 25 anti-malaria tablets (Malarone) - it occurred to me that maybe the drug companies don’t want a cure for malaria to be found. They’d much rather people buy their horrendously overpriced drugs.

My arm also aches from the hepatitis A and typhoid booster jabs.

Just relax

I’m heading off to see my best friend - the dentist. I like it so much that I pay him for the privilege and make another appointment on leaving. There aren’t any NHS dentists available in Wales, so my family also have to travel back into England to see their dentist.

This will be the last time in Witney for another six months hopefully.

A sense of optimism

For the first time in years I feel a sense of optimism about what 2008 (not 1908) might hold for me. Nothing earth-shattering has happened on my travels, but it feels like somewhere along the line I left pessimism behind, maybe in one of the ninety or so hotel bedroom bins?

I even have some mid-term ideas for the future, though it means starting a new career from scratch.

I will now return to Bill Bryson’s book - The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid. It took 144 pages, but finally I’ve read some very funny reminiscences of his childhood.

Happy New Year to you and I hope that you achieve what you set out to achieve.
