Some random memories and thoughts of the last two months, that don’t really warrant writing about, but I felt like I should do so before I forget them.
I was watching the film Se7en (Seven) where the crime was to represent gluttony. At the same time I was checking my diary for flight times and at the bottom of the page I was looking at was a quote about gluttony. Coincidence? I regularly get this happening, or déjà vu.
The film Hostel II is a complete waste of time. Saw IV is OK, if nasty. Grindhouse is pretty cool if you like Tarantino.
Watching a big Texan woman cooking a chicken on TV in USA - she did so by putting half a can of Budweiser into a pan, then impaling the chicken on top of the can. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Cannot believe it moment - an American school is banning kids from hugging each other, for fear of parental litigation. Doh. I wonder what kind of freaks the kids will turn into.
Does/did a god have a tail? If not - why have humans got a coccyx? Wasn’t man supposed to be made in a god’s image? (This thought came to me after flying way too much, as my coccyx hurts.)
Being mildly disgusted at bloke eating a whole bag of sunflower seeds on the flight back from Hawai’i - he kept spitting the kernels out into the sick-bag. Why…. I oughta….
Laugh-lots-moment - the scene in Bruce Almighty where Bruce makes his colleague’s voice go funny and say stupid things.
That’ll do for now.

I’ve gone beyond being tired now, after missing a night’s sleep on the flight from Boston to Shannon (Ireland). My bag has gone missing and is probably in Dublin, hopefully returning to me at lunchtime.

Now in Boston, which is on GMT-5 - slowly working my way back to GMT. Not entirely sure my body is happy with all these changes. It’s pretty cold here, bit like the temperature that I left Canada with.

What a bizarre place. Reminds me a bit of Dubai - all flashy stuff on the surface but nothing really there underneath.Just had breakfast, now venturing into the casino to win lots of $.

Off to the top of Mauna Kea (volcano) today - 4200m high. Already been up to 1000m and 0m today, so hopefully altitude won’t be a problem.

Lots of different temperate zones on the island. One part of the island is almost desert like with 30C temperature. Other parts are tropical, other parts (at 4200m) are snowing. There are five volcanos on the island, one of which is still spewing since 1986 when it first erupted.Seen five live weasels and one dead one, loads of birds, butterflies and not much else. Keep expecting to see snakes everywhere, but haven’t seen one yet.

Yesterday was quite a long day, making my way to Hawaii. Still only getting 3-4 hours’ sleep a night, but haven’t been doing much on the physical side of things for a while - so maybe that’s why.Now on the Big Island for a week, before going back to mainland USA for Las Vegas.

Been a while since I’ve had access to a computer.Eureka was, well, not that exciting at all - so I just drove through it. The street planners must have been bored as each street was just - A Street, B Street, Z street. Once through Eureka it got a bit more interesting on the Humboldt (?) coast. I went to Orick, which according to my guidebook was the site for some of Return of the Jedi - the bits with the Ewoks. I didn’t venture too far from the car, due to mountain lions (cougars/pumas) and black bears being around; I don’t have any bear-spray!Wine Country - Napa Valley is very pretty. Wish I hadn’t been driving, as I could have spent a lot of money getting sloshed in all the wineries.Back to S.F tomorrow, to catch a flight back to L.A, to then go to Hawaii on the 13th. I’ve enjoyed California, more so than I had expected to.

Driving to Eureka today (as you do) - I spotted a sign for a drive-thru tree. Well - I had to go and see it! I even managed to get my RAV4 through the tree. The pictures are all on my mobile phone, but haven’t found a PC with Bluetooth on it yet.Current location:View Larger Map
Alcatraz (in S.F) was quite a strange experience. To be somewhere that Al Capone was in prison was strange for me.

Went to SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) today. Really good exhibition, with some really interesting pieces.
Feeling strange after drinking a gingerbread latte.
